How Do I Start Collecting?

If, like me, you’ve stumbled across a collection and thought ‘I fancy a bit of that’, please step away and run as fast as you can.

I’m only joking! Collecting at times can be an expensive, frustrating hobby. But it’s all worth it when you finally receive that shirt you’ve been after for months.

I would advise on picking a particular niche for your collection like I have. There are far too many awesome shirts out there and you can’t possibly buy them all!

A lot of people go for National teams or clubs from a particular country or continent. Of course you don’t have to do that but it’s made my searching a lot quicker and easier!

As all collectors will say, eBay is always a great source for shirts but do be careful as there are plenty of fakes around. Apart from that, contacting clubs/FAs directly can be fruitful and cuts out the middle man. One of the best online stores I have come across is Classic Football Shirts. They have some brilliant shirts and are very reasonably priced.

If you’re ever at a dead end, ask other collectors as we’re a friendly bunch and always willing to help each other.

So if all that hasn’t put you off, welcome aboard and enjoy the ride!
